We are at a critical time in our careers; a critical time for our industry. The new administration in Washington and new legislature in Austin have health care; specifically health insurance in their cross-hairs and both intend to pass legislation that will place our careers in jeopardy. We all have a responsibility to ourselves, our co-workers, our associates in the industry, as well as our clients and local community to get involved in the debate with our elected officials.
There are many ways to get involved in the debate: we can join FWAHU, TAHU and NAHU; we can write letters to the editor of our local newspaper pointing out the flaws of any nationalized healthcare approach; we can take the NAHU message to other types of professional groups and organizations; we can make sure our clients know and understand the critical points in the conversation; we can use our local community networking opportunities to educate consumers; we can attend events like Day at the Capitol and Cap Conference. There are so many things that we can all do to be involved and not all of them cost as much as a trip to Washington D.C.
Please join us on April 9th for our legislative update from our Legislative Chairman, Kasey Buckner. Kasey will share what the landscape looks like and give us the talking points we need to have to bring the message to our clients.
