Designations, Certifications, and Recognition
NABIP has partnered with The American College , America’s Health Insurance Plans , and the Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification to offer members discounted registration fees and/or online course opportunities for a number of professional insurance designation programs.
Designations
Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC)
The program focuses on providing the student with the knowledge necessary to become a professional in the sale and service of employee benefits plans. Individuals earning the REBC designation develop an understanding of the various types of group benefits and retirement plans, and the practical knowledge needed for choosing and/or designing the best benefits package that will meet the client’s needs. Disability Income Associate (DIA)
A DIA designation means that participants have acquired knowledge of the health care industry and the role of disability income insurance in protecting individuals from the financial losses that often attend serious physical injuries and other severe health afflictions. Upon completion of this course of study, students will understand the fundamentals of the health insurance industry, the role of disability insurance within the health care continuum, and recent disability trends.
Students will also gain knowledge of both federal and state government disability programs, including Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and state temporary disability income programs. Those achieving the designation will understand employer-sponsored disability programs ranging from sick leave benefits to long-term disability income plans, including their tax consequences and tax planning considerations. Students will also become aware of ways individuals can supplement government- and employer-sponsored programs through private disability income insurance. In addition, those completing the designation will gain insight into the role of disability income insurance in retirement, estate, and long-term care planning. Learn more
Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC)
You’ll get the best training in the business from the industry’s education leaders. The National Association of Benefit and Insurance Professionals (NABIP) has partnered with the Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification (CLTCC) as a promoter and co-sponsor of the Certified in Long-Term Care, (CLTC) program.
The CLTC program is a designation program focused on LTC. The program was begun in 1999 and to date has produced more than 8,000 graduates. The CLTC course is foundationally about “planning” for long-term care. The program is offered in a 2-day Master Class format that is broken down into eight multi-disciplinary sections. Learn more
Certification Programs
NABIP also offers a number of certification programs which provide advanced training and actionable information that brokers can use to assist their clients. The certification will serve as a distinction for producers as credentialed experts in their area of study. Below are a few of them, but learn more at the NBAIP Certification page about all of the offerings.
Training on Medicare Advantage and Part D Prescription Drug Plans
In light of the intense scrutiny of Medicare marketing activities, and the pressure that we feel from Congress, beneficiary groups, and other stakeholders, as well as the increasingly stringent requirements established by CMS, NABIP and its partners have launched a new online training program. For more information on training for brokers, agents and plan-staff marketing, visit the Medicare Training page.
Single Payer Healthcare Certification
Single-payer healthcare, also known as “Medicare for all,” is the most controversial health insurance debate in our country. For this reason, NABIP has created this three-hour certification course to educate health insurance professionals on the benefit structure under the single-payer proposal.. For further details and to enroll in the next upcoming session, visit the Single-Payer Healthcare Certification page.
Wellness
NABIP has created a new Wellness certification course. The two-hour course helps clients to address controllable behaviors and guidance on plan implementation. For further details and to enroll in the next upcoming session, visit the Wellness Certification page.
Recognition Programs
NABIP has developed two programs to recognize the achievement of our members. The first recognizes excellent sales results and the second recognizes significant contributions to our association.
Leading Producers Round Table (LPRT)
NABIP formed the Leading Producers Round Table in 1942 to recognize the successful underwriters of Accident & Health Insurance. Today, the LPRT committee is committed to making LPRT the premier program for top Health, Disability, Long-Term Care and Worksite Marketing Insurance producers, carrier reps, carrier management, and general agency/agency managers. Through the hard work of the LPRT committee members, LPRT will offer new membership benefits, exclusive LPRT events, and new categories and qualification requirements. Learn more
President's Triple Crown Program
NABIP has 20,000 members across the country; you are the reason we exist. Your participation in lobbying and advocacy is the reason we’ve become a force in Washington and in state houses across the country. Your recruitment efforts are why membership is up 33% over the past five years. Your contribution of your time and talents is why we have over 200 chapters across the country.
We never want to take these efforts for granted because, without you, we would suffer the fate experienced by countless other nonprofit associations: declining numbers, shaky finances and a demoralized membership.
NABIP created the President’s Triple Crown Program to recognize those members whose individual contributions to NABIP help advance the association’s mission. Like baseball’s Triple Crown, it recognizes accomplishments in three key areas. However, while baseball’s Triple Crown hasn’t been won since 1967, NABIP’s Triple Crown can be won every year by hundreds of our members. Learn more
